THANK YOU

There I stood under the hot sun and so did she...

carrying the weight, more than the heavy soul she was..

counting her age lost in the wrinkles on her face...

observed her for minutes, and was drawn to her..

offered to carry some weight that I could..

lost in the crowd, she was like me,

looked as if she found both the desert and the sea..

when I asked where her destination was..

she responded in a number...

and as I helped put her load in the bus,

all she mumbled was a THANK YOU..

the time I realized

all that she was... just a vagrant...

of my own race ~~
